Love It or Leave It, says JetBlue

JetBlue brandingEvery election year, people start uttering that iconic, hyperbolic statement: “If the other guy wins, I’m moving to Canada.”

Never mind that these same people likely didn’t vote during the midterm elections and probably spent more time tracking the movements of Honey Boo Boo than the progress of ol’ Bill on Capital Hill. If their guy doesn’t win, they’re going to uproot their children and sell their home (good luck) and fly away to some place where dissenting opinions apparently don’t exist.

To which JetBlue says, Live Free or Fly. (Take that, Die Hard.)

Of course, the campaign is simply a clever marketing strategy to piggyback some brand awareness on a mostly unrelated topic. The website tracks “votes” and such, but we’d guess JetBlue has about as much interest in your political allegiance as it does for Steven Slater’s wellbeing.

Still, JetBlue provides a great example of how brands can use creativity to participate in a conversation not normally associated with their industry. And if that other guy does win, I’ll be happy to respond to your comments from St. Lucia.
